A Summer of Community and Nature at Sandrock Bends
This summer has been a truly special one for Sandrock Bends and the local community. With sunshine (mostly!) on our side, we’ve enjoyed three fantastic events that brought people together to celebrate nature, community spirit, and the importance of protecting our green spaces.
St Helens Woods Summer Fair 🌳
We kicked things off with a stall at the St Helen’s Woods Summer Fair, where we had the chance to meet so many of you. It was wonderful to share updates about Sandrock Bends, chat about our future plans, and raise awareness of why this beautiful natural site means so much to our community.
Picnic on the Bends 🧺
In July, we spread out our blankets for a relaxed community picnic at Sandrock Bends. Families, friends, and neighbours came together to enjoy good food, laughter, and sunshine. It was a simple but powerful reminder of the joy that comes from sharing time in nature.
Wild Wanderings 🦋
August brought Wild Wanderings, a family-friendly event that combined wildlife-based games, crafts, stalls, and an eco treasure hunt. Spread across St Helen’s Church’s garden, St Helen’s Woods, and Sandrock Bends, the event encouraged everyone to explore, play, and learn more about the wonderful plants and creatures that make their home here. From the bric-a-brac and plant stalls to the activities for children, there was something for everyone!
Looking Ahead 🌱
After such a busy summer, our committee took a short rest, but we’re back to planning the next chapter. A big thank you to everyone who came along, supported us, or helped behind the scenes. Your enthusiasm and energy are what keep these events alive.
Stay tuned for news of our upcoming activities. Together, we can continue to celebrate and protect the beauty of Sandrock Bends.
