Why did the Dormouse cross the road? To get to Sandrock Bends!
The ecologists reviewing the site have suggested Hazel Dormice are unlikely to be in the area due to The Ridge forming an impenetrable barrier to arboreal (treetop and hedge) movement. Research shows that Hazel Dormice can and do cross the road, especially if the habitat they are travelling to is suitable. We have recorded the ultrasonic calls of Hazel Dormice at Sandrock Bends, so they have already arrived.
